Horde-Like Cultures in other settings
I thought it might be a good idea to compile a list of similar cultures in other D&D settings, in order to track down books to borrow ideas from.
The ones I can think of off-hand are the following:
MYSTARA
Ethengar
Jennites
BLACKMOOR
Peshwa (More Scythians than mongols perhaps)
SOVEREIGN STONE
Dwarves
What else?

Also the Wolf and Tiger Nomads (who are descended from the Relentless Horde), to some extent.night_druid wrote:Greyhawk

More literally, the people of Northern Hosk in Taladas. Northern Hosk is a vast steppe filled with nomadic tribes. The various human tribes, especially the Uigan and Kazar, are Mongol-like steppe nomads, while the Elf Clans (the hosk'i imou merkitsa) are more or less Mongols as well. The local goblins, on the other hand, are a settled people.Big Mac wrote:DRAGONLANCE:

GHOSTWALK:
Thurkasia (horse nomads that are becoming more civilised). They might be a good model for some of the cities on the outskirts of The Hordelands.
EDIT: How about Jakandor?

Do the dinosaur riding halflings from Eberron count? I don't know too much about their culture so it may be very different.

Besides the actual Horde, does FR offer any others?

The barbarians of The Ride/Tortured Lands and Narfell are fairly Horde-like.Bouv wrote:Besides the actual Horde, does FR offer any others?

Havard didn't specify D&D, so I'd think he wants any setting.Morfie wrote:If you want non D&D but still fantasy and in an RPG:

Are they covered equally well in both the old and new RPG?Morfie wrote:Dothraki, from Game Of Thrones.

One of the reasons why I asked is that people can find similar products from other lines to borrow ideas/material from.
Keep em coming!
