I was thinking about how my character would handle his ~8000 unspent gold. A shopping trip might well be the first step in whatever adventure presents itself (it's far easier for me to decide whether I want the 20 or so items that you roll up and place in a random curio shop, rather than shopping the entire equipment list), but he's unlikely to spend more than half that way no matter what goodies you offer. He wouldn't likely carry more than 100 GP, unless there's some sort of cutpurse-proof money belt which is easily available, in which case maybe he'd have up to 1000. But for the balance, are there such things as banks in Bluffside, or would he have to keep an Arcane Locked strongbox under his bed or something?

There isn't a true bank in Bluffside. There is the Minting Hall in the Mining District, where adamantine bars are made and stamped for trade purposes. It's unlikely that the hall would let your PC store his money there. (Someone might turn it into a donation if you're not well respected.) He could find a moneylender to keep his coins safe for him but the interest wouldn't really be worth it. There is Denis' Adventure Exchange in the Military District where unique items can be bought and sold. They do a good trade in precious stone, so he could turn his gold into gems.

Other than that, he'll need a strongbox.

Well a standard chest with a good lock would be 82 gp. If you want a tougher box, we can say a reinforced chest (masterwork) costs 50 extra gold. If he goes for a strongbox with an amazing lock the total cost would be 202 gp.

Effect: One, 1-Handed Melee Weapon
Duration: See text
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell must be cast upon a 1-handed melee weapon; that weapon must then be used as the focus for the spell. The spell grants charges to the weapon, which remain indefinitely, until they are expended. The amount of charges granted to the weapon is equal to 1d4 + 1 per caster level (maximum: 1d4+10, at 10th level.)

Only one casting of this spell may be placed upon the weapon at one time. Additional castings overlap (replace / do not stack with) an existing casting. If the weapon has 2 charges remaining, and the spell is cast upon the weapon again, granting 6 charges, the amount of charges would be reset to 6, not to 8; the remainder charges from the previous casting are overlapped and/or replaced.

The weapon that is the focus of this spell can now be used as a sort of exotic wand; the wielder simply points the weapon at a single target that is within range, and utters the command word. This causes a bolt of sonic energy in the shape of the weapon to be fired at the target. The wielder must then make a ranged touch attack; a successful hit indicates that the bolt has struck the target.

The bolt inflicts sonic damage equal to the weapon’s base damage, plus one point per caster level (Max: +10 at 10th level.) For example, a battle axe, which inflicts 1d8 base damage, would create a sonic bolt that inflicts 1d8 + 1/CL sonic damage.

Some weapons are harder to focus than others; a 5th level caster can only use weapons that have a crit range of 20, and that have up to a x3 crit modifier; an 8th level caster can use weapons that are up to a crit range of 18-20 and that have up to a x3 crit modifier; an 11th level (or higher) caster can use weapons that are up to a crit range of 18-20 and that have up to a x4 crit modifier.

The bolt also has the same critical range as the focus weapon; thus, for example, a battle axe could possibly crit if the attack roll is a 20, and if it does, the bolt would deliver 3d8 + 1/CL sonic damage.

Despite the long range of the bolt, the caster must apply range increment penalties for every 50 feet that the bolt travels; i.e., the ranged touch attack would be at -2 between 51 and 100 feet, and at -4 between 101-150 feet, etc. This is because of the gradual degradation of the sonic force as it travels.

Lastly, the bolt ignores anything less than full concealment or full cover; if the target is visible, the bolt can strike it without hindrance.

Heh, since you gave me standard wealth for a 5th level character, he not only has slightly better gear than before, but he is no longer in debt, lol. In fact, he is 524 gp. AHEAD of where he was! :D

I am assuming that he was "summoned" here (magically) while sleeping, thus arriving with only his personal gear, and that he purchased his current horse here, on this world.

I am posting them AGAIN, to see if the fault lies with Piazza; perhaps, through the process of posting, the links in the post somehow became corrupted?

Nope. Still won't let me download them tom my PC. Same errors as before. I don't this its a problem wit The Piazza since I couldn't get to download through the links you posted on Facebook.

The question is, can anyone else download them?

The Niroc’s Sonic Weapon Bolt had worked for me before, but now it doesn't.

Angel, can you try to download it again?
