[5e] Non-WOTC published FANTASY campaign settings

Post by shesheyan » Thu Mar 21, 2019 1:57 pm

List of non-WOTC published FANTASY campaign settings for D&D 5e

The list excludes Kickstarters that have not yet been delivered to backers. Once they are available for direct sale or Drivethru we can add them to the list :

• Midgard Worldbook for 5th Edition and PFRPG

• Adventures in Middle-Earth, Cubicle 7

• Tal'Dorei, Critical Roll

• Aihrde, 5th edition players guide (Castles and Crusades)

• Scarred Lands Player's Guide (OGL 5e)

• Primeval Thule 5e Campaign Setting

• Arcanis 5E Campaign Setting
___________________________________

I probably missed many titles. I'll add suggestions to the list.

Was Robert Conley's Points of Light for 5th edition? The only thing I found on it is that it was published for 4th edition.
A big THANKS! to Giant Space Hamster & Chimpman for the cookies! (Dark Side be damned!) :D

My D&D 5th edition Dakan Mar Campaign setting Conspectus and Campaign Rules here at The Piazza Forums, a Fool's Errand WIP.

I thought C&C was it's own system? Or this for 5e and C&C?

I don't see that in the list in the OP. :?

Did Shesheyan delete it, before I saw this topic?

Arcanis and Scarred Lands both started off as 3rd Edition compatible campaign settings.

(There seems to be a push for Kickstarters to convert old worlds to new rules. It was Pathfinder versions, in the past.)

I know that Shesheyan only wants completed 5e products in his list, but I'd be interested to know how many other third part 5e settings are in the pipeline (and what the ETA for them is).

From what I can read the Points of Light setting is for 4e. The blurb says its system neutral. It doesn't qualify as a 5e setting. A setting has to provide 5e conversion rules or full compatibility with 5e rules to be added to the OP.

You are more than welcome to start a thread and follow the progress of these Kickstarters. Once the are available for general sale I will add them to this OP. ;)

Troll Lord Games now supports this setting with both Castles & Crusades and D&D 5e.

Amethyst is a strange beast style wise. It's a melting pot of Science-fantasy + Science-fiction + High magic fantasy. I put it in the sci-fi list because of that.

That's fair. It's hard to pin down (which is a good thing, in my opinion). I view it as more fantasy than not, but depending on your party build or campaign, that can certainly vary from table to table.

We had a suggestion on Facebook, from Hans: Zodiac Empires Fantasy Campaign Setting.

I've never heard of this before. I don't remember anyone talking about it here before. Maybe we need a "What is this?" level topic about it. :?

Hans also mentioned Esper Genesis, but the Esper Genesis 5E Sci-fi - Core Manual is a science fiction thing.

Do you have that on your other list?

I can't keep up with Kickstarters, to be honest. :D

Both Points of Light are for any edition and very similar to how I did Blackmarsh (PDF is free).
https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/89944/Blackmarsh

They all work well with D&D 5th edition due to the similarity of power levels with OD&D + Supplements.

One of the realms (Southland) is available at this link
http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/globa ... thLand.pdf

It's northern edge dovetails with Blackmarsh and it is set within the same time period.

My Green Isles might qualify. It is being serialised in The RPG Review journal an ISSN-registered electronic magazine released quarterly produced by an incorporated body. The setting emulates fairy tales of the British Isles and therefore has different races and assumption than vanilla D&D.
However, the incorporated association is not for profit and the work volunteer.
