D&D Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica?

Explore a worldwide cityscape filled to the brim with adventure and intrigue in this campaign setting for the world's greatest roleplaying game

A perpetual haze of dreary rain hangs over the spires of Ravnica. Bundled against the weather, the cosmopolitan citizens in all their fantastic diversity go about their daily business in bustling markets and shadowy back alleys. Through it all, ten guilds--crime syndicates, scientific institutions, church hierarchies, military forces, judicial courts, buzzing swarms, and rampaging gangs--vie for power, wealth, and influence. These guilds are the foundation of power on Ravnica. They have existed for millennia, and each one has its own identity and civic function, its own diverse collection of races and creatures, and its own distinct subculture. Their history is a web of wars, intrigue, and political machinations as they have vied for control of the plane.
Anyone know more about this?

Ravnica is by far the best setting MTG ever invented, so this would be exciting news, if I had any confidence whatsoever that they were capable of doing it true justice. Nothing less than a full-sized campaign book, at least as detailed as the Eberron Campaign Setting, would fit the bill.

I also found something called D&D Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica Dice.

There are no useful details there, and I'm not personally interested in customised dice, but some of you might like this, so I thought I would drop a link.

Technically it's not a new setting; it premiered in 2005, it just hasn't been detailed for RPG use until now. But some of us have been homebrewing it in the back of our head for decades, wishing we had (thousands of years of) more time to do more of a job and actually bring it to the table.

The OP has been edited since my first post, so I now revise my initial statement.

Holy hell, they finally went all-in and did it. I am cautiously optimistic. But they're not getting my fifty bucks (assuming I even had them) until I know for a fact that this is done 100% RIGHT. This setting is too special to be ***** up to even the tiniest degree.

Of course its not new. I play MTG too. But since its was never detailed for D&D. Its is a new setting for D&D...

This is a very clever move on the part of the design team. I'm not surprised they didn't tackle an existing campaign setting as their first source book.

I will be more curious if this means linkage on the settings. If D&D events in the future adventures spreads to the MtG universe, that would be super cool. :)

Unlikely, with how Magic operates.

A MTG setting instead of any D&D setting? Am I the only one that thinks this is a big mistake?

Thanks! I wonder if the legendary leaders of the guilds would make good icons. I may need to post a new thread....

IK people have been asking for a D&D / MtG crossover since WotC took over. I'm curious why now, though, to be entirely honest

Nathan Stewart (D&D’s Brand Director and Executive Producer) said they were coming out with two (2) settings in 2018. A new one and a classic one. Now we know Ravnica is the new one. Waiting to see which setting will be the «classic» one. My money is on Dark Sun.

Okay, I'm in.

But forget about the dice. I don't need more dice. :P

Me too, but I've never got into MtG either so I don't particularly care for it. If I wanted a planet-covering city in my game I'd go and play Star Wars instead (Coruscant).

It all sounds like managerial a-holes coming up with this.. "how can we leverage our product synergies going forward".
Next thing you know, you'll need to play D&D with MtG cards as well.

Interesting. The setup screams 13th Age to me, more than D&D, though. I think I'll get it for my 13th Age games.

I'm with you as well. I was expecting a meaty book with all official settings as chapters (MTF was a disappointment in that respect). But it seems Ravnica is quite well-received a setting amongst the D&D community.
