It looks like a really cool set. I hope the miniatures are released separately too, I'd love to get a bunch of them...pre-painted.

Odd that it's cheaper than most D&D hardcovers. I had read that one reason TSR lost so much money was due to the boxed sets they put out. Increased printing costs and whatnot lead to a reduction in profit.

Good point about boxed sets (at least traditionally) being expensive to produce. On the other hand, I also believe starter sets have always tended to sell well. Probably it was the other boxed sets (settings, adventures and such) that TSR lost money off.

I think another reason why they would be able to sell this at a low price is that there really doesn't seem to be much content in the box. My main reason for wanting to get this box is to get the two miniatures, even though they too seem to be very cheaply produced.
