I have to laugh, as I was cooking with this on last night. I'd like to think that my meal was likewise epic, but it is unlikely.

Happy New Year to all!

I'd like to recommend "Nox Arcana" (http://www.noxarcana.com/). If you're looking for creepy/eerie atmospheric music, then this is it.

And of course, the "Conan The Barbarian" soundtrack gets me totally revved up for gaming every time.

I really like it when a series I've been watching makes use of a good theme, especially when the theme is versatile enough to be both upbeat and low key.

I'm thinking of using the progression for Thorn and Sera.

I am actually going to use this piece as the opening theme for my campaign each week. I have been looking for a way to use it ever since I first heard it about two years ago.

Another pair of pieces, contemplative, sad, yet also hopeful, very much the mood I'm looking for in building the relationship between Uther Andahar and the twins Rowena and Leansethar. From the soundtrack to "The Crimson Wings" by The Cinematic Orchestra, tracks 2 and 8, "Arrival of the Birds" and "Transformation." Both appropriate titles, given that Uther's nicknames for the girls were "Songbird" and "Shrike."

Actually found out about this score from a fanfilm done by pwnisher on YouTube.

Joris De Man's Killzone scores -- the games were somewhat 'meh' from what I've read of the reviews, but the music.... Top notch! Very reminiscent of John Williams' work from Star Wars in places (not that that's a bad thing)

Of particular note, the theme from the third installment. This just drips with atmosphere. I can totally see this backing Leansethar and Rowena's ascent to the Throne of Stars.....

Holy carp! :o

This is the closest darned thing to the reaper-class Daughter of Uther in action I will probably ever see.

Plus, nice, haunting music.

And speaking of Leansethar.... her theme, I think.

Along with what I seem to keep coming back to when I think of a theme for the twins and their Blackmoor, in general.

Top of the pipe dream list, yes, is getting Thomas Bergersen to score the movie adaptation of Thorn's Chronicle. :geek:

What a great tune to go along with my morning coffee! :)
There is something James Bond-esque to that one if I may say so...

Thanks to one or another of the Benevolent Overlords at the Comeback Inn, I have been exposed to the soundtrack to Elizabeth: The Golden Age (a nicely done suite here).

Wow. So the age goes from Gold to Bronze, as I repurpose some of those themes for the Handmaidens.....

Monty has done it again. The trailer for "White," packed with more inspiration: charged-burst use of dragonstone energies, perhaps?

Have I mentioned Michiru Oshima? The composer behind the "Ico," "Legend of Legaia" video game soundtracks, and "Fullmetal Alchemist," "Sora no Woto," "Xam'd: Lost Memories," "Chevalier d'Eon" and "Zetzuen no Tempest" soundtracks.

Fantastic stuff. I use the track "PSALMS" form "Chevalier d'Eon" as Bargle's theme.

I have to say that I usually prefer some kind of music that seep into your bones but doesn't take your full notice. Background music that really is in the background but giving atmosphere, but let you concentrate fully on the game.

I have become a real big favourite of the following soundtracks: "Solaris" and "Contagion" by Cliff Martinez and "The Fountain" and "Moon" by Clint Mansell. They ooze of atmosphere.

Last of the RWBY trailers, number four for "Yang," -- Cinderella meets Goldilocks meets John Woo?

Love the shotg(a)un(lets). Yellow beauty burns gold, indeed...

Might have to have Aurora pick up this fighting style, if she doesn't find an Edge soon....

The soundtrack to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, by Michael McCann has some really good stuff in it.... So good, I just might find use for it in crafting the mood for the upcoming Throne of Stars, Act II: Sleeping Beauty and the Beastmen

How can you not like a group of composers who describe themselves as "a band of wolf riding northern sound warriors"?

Since I'm doing a lot of viking stuff here on the piazza, then I could introduce some good music as well for a Northern Reaches campaign or when some longships appears and men attacks the PC's
The Faroese band Tyr has made a modern version in the famous chain-dance song "Regin Smiður" - "the Smith Regin" albeit in a much much much shorter version than the original. But with the video it should set some atmosphere.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5zNK--DUDg

Have to include their version of the most popular chain-dance song "Ormurin langi" - the long worm/dragon. The name of the viking ship of King Olav Tryggvason of Norway. Basically it's song about The Norwegians being beaten up (sorry Havard  ) by the Danes under King Svend Tveskæg (eng: Forkbeard) before he later went on to conquer England.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEU_fgJjqOs

For "Danish vikings" I recommend Tyr's version of "Ramund hin Unge" (Ramund the young) - which is interesting for their "hard" Faroese accent when singing danish. Sorry no video here.

Some of the Spring Anime season soundracks have (finally) hit the shelves, and there are quite a few gems.

From the Guilty Crown and Blue Exorcist composer comes the score from Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin. Much epicness, there.

From the show with the ridiculous "date the girl to save the world" premise, the haunting theme "Seirei" ("Spirit"), and its amped-up version, "Pride;" also, nicely melancholy piano/strings in "Secret." They also arrange the opening piece in solo piano and orchestrated flavors.

And on the skinfriendship saves the world front, Vividred Operation's main theme does some very nice things with guitars, brass, and violins. The combat theme, "Wings Towards the Sky" is suitably epic, as well.

I watch these shows for the music. Really!
