Barbarian Prince (Dwarf Star Games)

Post by shesheyan » Sat Feb 10, 2018 8:09 pm

This was a booklet/boardgame «you are the hero style» with a map and a pewter barbarian model you moved around to explore the region. I owned a copy in the 80s. Played a lot but it was difficult to finish. Do we know if someone create a rpg or a setting document based on the map's locations ?

Board Game Geek says that the designer is called Arnold Hendrick. Is he still around?

He designed an RPG called Swordbearer. I'm not sure if that is connected.

Swordbearer 1st Edition seems to be a one-shot book, but Swordbearer 2nd Edition has a couple of supplements.

Sadly, Swordbearer is not related to the Barbarian Prince game.

Apparently Swordbearer was a very avant-garde RPG with many innovations. A good focus on social interactions, social status, abstract wealth level. Maybe too avant-garde for 1982. Most buyers never played it from what I can read in this interesting review : http://grognardia.blogspot.ca/2009/06/r ... earer.html
