[tutorial] How to Design a Town Map

Post by Big Mac » Sun Sep 30, 2018 11:37 pm

Jonathan Roberts of Fantastic Maps has a tutorial called How to Design a Town Map, which shows how to sketch out the layout of a town in just four steps:
  1. Draw the terrain and the major locations
  2. Place the major roads
  3. Add the minor roads
  4. Draw in the houses
Has anyone tried this method out? What sort of results have you gotten?

I would be more after the "How" part.

but it does mention to avoid the issue with some medieval town maps: there should be no straight roads.
