Barbarians of Lemuria

One of my GM's is starting a campaign with this system. I've taken a brief look and so far I'd say it looks good. Anyone here have any experience with the system?

Bought and printed the PDF. Really enjoyed reading it but didn't get to play yet.
The multiple career system for the characters is interesting.

I might give it a try once my D&D5E campaign is over in May.

I'd like to know how it goes with your group. Keep us posted !

It was a steal during those holiday sales but too low on my priority list to hit my address. Still on my radar. I played in Jeff Mejia's Dicey Tales pulp playtest using Simon's BoL rules and it was smooth and simple, really worked for that genre.

Finally gave this game a try last Friday. An adventure with pre-generated characters. We really enjoyed it. Very easy to get into for both the GM and the players. The Sword & Sorcery vibe of the game is a good counter point to the usual « LOTR type fantasy ». Magic is extremely rare and very dangerous.

In Parsool, at the Running Turtle tavern, an alchemist and a minstrels from noble backgrounds, hired a barbarian and his shady associate (assassin) to find the mysterious «Island of Horror» and recover a dark grimoire from the ruins of a Sorcerer-Kings temple. They fought a sea serpent; were ship wrecked; found the island; battled cannibales; descended into catacombs under the temple; battled a giant crossbreed between a slug and a serpent; discovered the secret entrance to the Sorcerer-Kings' hidden library; found the grimoire but were teleported away to a desert after the minstrel touched a trapped item... we ended the session at this point. All that in 4 hours.

Nice!

Indeed, I love how simple this game is and at the same time perfect for the S&S genre. I hear the magic system is pretty solid too, but I have never tried it.

We will be playing this game this weekend actually. Going to be fun! :)

BOL is now my default RPG game. I don't play much anymore - no games in 2016, only 2 games in 2017. I don't want to spend time re-reading a more complex system each time I have the itch to play again - and I don't like games like Dungeon World or Fate. The «4 Career» system that replaces Classes and Skills is a wonderful idea. It gives the richness of a detailed background without spending time selecting granular Skills/Feats/Powers. Characters a proficient at the start of the game. My players really enjoyed that.

Let us know how the game turns out.

Are you happy with Print On Demand? Is the binding solid? I never ordered from them.
