[SJ Games] Killer: The Game of Assassination

Killer: The Game of Assassination live action RPG

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer:_T ... assination

We played it twice in the 80s. The first time we did a mafia style campaign with two families fighting for the control of our suburb neighborhood. Water gun, balloon grenades and fake bombs with battery alarms clocks were our favorite weapons. One guy, who broke a leg for real, had made so much money with contracts he payed to turn one of his crutches into a hidden weapon inside the long tube.

The second time took place during the same summer but we added several twists. The game was limited to the area inside Quebec City's walled historical fortifications between 6pm and midnight. There were 3 clans ruled by a mad scientist. It was set in a Chtuluhesque environnement. Each participant had three lives. If a participants was killed the mad scientist (leader) of his clan had 30 minutes to reach him and administer an injection of a glowing green liquid (cool aid) which brought back to life the character. It was pretty silly but so much fun running around with small water guns hidden in our coat pockets.

This kind of behavior was frowned upon even in the early 80s but I believe today you would probably get shot (by mistake) on the spot by police because of all the terror attacks.

As anyone else played this ?

And in the US - there were regular games at the various gaming conventions in southern California back then - to the point that at the start of the con the staff would conduct familiarization briefings with the hotel staff, so they wouldn't get freaked out by the players!

Played several games during my university years. Particularly memorable were the week-long open house games.
