Piazza Folks at GenCon 50?

Postby Havard » Sun Aug 13, 2017 8:06 pm

Is anyone from The Piazza going to GenCon this year? It would be great if someone could send us updates here from the convention!

Whether you are going or not, what are you most excited about from this years GenCon? If you are not going, are you hoping for any specific announcements or other news to come out of the convention? :)

Sadly, I was not able to swing it this year. (I've been once, in 2011.)

I'm looking forward to hearing more about Starfinder, and its organized play program, both of which will debut at the con. I'm not nearly as into SF games as much as fantasy, despite loving both genres nearly equally in other media, but I recently played in one session (a milk run to help one of our local PFS GMs prep for the con) and enjoyed it. I will probably pick up the Starfinder core rulebook so that I can play an occasional Society scenario, but probably won't invest in it more than that, at least not for a while.

I'm also hoping to hear about Green Ronin selling a ton of copies of Book of the Righteous, Freeport Bestiary, and the Critical Role book at the con. I'm already getting a backer copy or comp copy of the first two, and know next to nothing about C.R., but hearing that my favorite publisher is doing well is always welcome!

Oh yeah, I hear alot of people talking about Starfinder.

I am also interested in the RuneQuest and TORG announcements.

Is it true that WotC didn't have a booth at all at this year's convention?

Maybe now when the convention has come to an end we can make a list of the most important RPG announcements?

We wife and I went ahead and bought the Starfinder Core Rulebook last week. I was able to start in on it during our family trip to see the eclipse this past weekend. I still have a lot more to read before I can give any informed opinion on the game, though.
