[Movies] Dune Reboot by Denis Villeneuve

Post by Havard » Sun Sep 17, 2017 10:16 am

Arrival director Denis Villeneuve is making the upcoming Dune reboot

What do you think? Can Dune be turned into a successful film or is the book really unfilmable?

Oy vey. As many times as it's been tried, I think it should be left well enough alone.

I don't think this is in any way necessary. If it ends up being good, it's good. If not, not. But either way, not really interested enough to get hyped... Between the various cuts of the Lynch version and the miniseries, there's plenty enough visuals for dune already. I'll watch it, but it will be hard to get me excited.

That said, Ari Folman's hopes of making an animation based on the Big Ass Design Book of Jodorovsky... that was something that really, really sparked my interest. Unfortunately it looks like it will never happen. But Folman doing Jodo's version of Dune, would likely have been something mindbendinly awesome.

And now I got the urge to rewatch Jodorovsky's Dune the document .)

I am excited! Especially if Blade Runner is a success.

I would also love it if they ever got to make movies beyond Children of Dune. I am a huge fan of God Emperor of Dune and the whole "second trilogy".

Ah, true. There's more to the story than we have seen... So yeh, that would be nice if a lasting franchise could come of this and we'd see everything adapted.

You seen Jodorovsky's Dune the document, btw?
