[Netflix] Bright: is it a Shadowrun Movie?

I just watched the Netflix movie Bright with Will Smith. I see the movie has gotten a lot of negative criticism and people on the Internet are wondering why Netflix has already greenlit a sequel.

However, I really have to say I enjoyed the movie. I could see some issues with editing and the story is pretty standard, but I liked the two main characters and Will Smith does a great job. Some people have criticized the dialogue, but this did not bother me at all.

Where the movie really shines though is the world building. This setting is really interesting and I would love to find out more about this world in the sequels.

Is it a Shadowrun movie? No its not. The world of Shadowrun is very different in many ways, even though it shares some similar concepts. D20 Modern's Urban Arcana is perhaps even more similar, but again there are differences.

I would love to see an RPG set in the Bright universe though.

Has anyone else seen this movie? What do you think? Do you think it might be a fun world to run an RPG in?

I enjoyed this movie despite reading some unflattering reviews. D20 Modern's Urban Arcana is what came to mind as I watched it. Could be a fun way to start a campaign by doing a group viewing the movie first to help the player's understand the setting.

I find the setting more similar to the world of Victoriana. i.e. the various sentient species of the planet have lived together in one way or another since time immemorial.
Shadow Run-esque? Maybe in the fact that it's a gritty, corrupt world, where the rich thrive and the rest survive. But that also sounds like Victoriana ;)
Urban Arcana is probably the best analogie though.

I concur with this. Very fun movie, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Hoping it gets a home media release.

I liked it. I'm glad to hear there will be a sequel.
