This video was awesome.

This might seem shocking, but I have never played HeroQuest. Now I feel like I've been missing out. :)

Any fans of the game here?

I've seen this before. Its a very hilarious video.

Its a nostalgia thing. Its better to play a D&D game.

Quote : « A lot of great memories with this game, but revisiting it decades later see it as simplistic and lacking in player options. Fine for quick dice chucking nonsense, but realize there's not much meat to it.»

Any of the WOTC D&D based boardgames will give you the same experience in a coop format. No GM required.

Oh definitely. I would never play any board game in the place of a roleplaying game.

But the video was pretty funny. :)

My dad bought it and ran it for my mom, sister, and me. I'd been playing RPGs for a few years at that point, so it was a way of sharing some of that fun with family members who had no interest in anything more involved.

I now own my dad's copy. I've been using the minis in my tabletop RPGs for years, but only recently played HQ again, when I introduced it to my kids. One of my regular gaming buddies owns a copy, and has run a quest or two for them, too. However, my kids have enough gaming experience that they'd rather play D&D or PF than HQ, and I'd rather run those for them, too.

That was an awesome video, Havard! Thanks for sharing it.

Although sadly I've never played it, and I bet I would have loved it as a kid.

There is a reboot of the game called "Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower" as well as a sequel "Shadows over Hammerhal." They are a lot of fun.

I wonder what happened to those Spanish fellas who wanted to reboot HeroQuest.

It was a big IP mess. The people who launched the crowdfunding didn't own the rights. Moon Designs challenged Warzone Games use of the words Hero Quest :

Seems like development of the 25th anniversary HeroQuest game is still going on despite complete radio silence for a year...

I don't get this IP dispute. There are already two completely different products under the same exact name, HeroQuest the board game and HeroQuest the roleplaying game, and to my knowledge, neither company (Games Workshop and Moon Design - then Issaries Inc.) tried to sue each other. It's just weird that Moon Design has proceeded legally against Game Zone over an IP that actually involves Games Workshop > Milton Bradley > Hasbro or whatever.

Judging by these posts, I think the backers are doubting the designers' honesty.

Indeed. This designer is not very credible anymore... The original successful, but cancelled KS due to IP issues, was in 2013. What bothers me is that he is offering for sale a non-existant and possibly illegal game on his website. Aren't there any laws in Spain that a group a people could use to file a complaint against him for false advertising and misrepresentation. Local authorities should look into this matter.
