Pc failure

Post by Sock Puppet » Sat Apr 28, 2018 7:51 am

My computer is failing to boot up. I suspect it's just the psu but it could be more serious. Any help appreciated.

Have you tried swapping the kettle lead or cleaning the insides out yet?

There might also be an internal fuse on the circuit board that you could try changing.

It seems fixed now. Seems the PSU was failing after five years. Swapped it out and replaced a couple of data cables that were suspected damaged by a power surge.

Seems the multi-socket adaptor I had been using may also be not long for this world.

If multiple things are going, it could be a result of a power surge.

It might be worth buying one of those multiway sockets with a surge protector built in, just in case.

I picked up one from Sainsbury's* that had USB charging ports too. I liked it so much, that I bought a second one.

* = Other supermarket chains are available.

I think it was the multiway socket with built in surge protector that failed, tbh :o
