It does look cool. I'm involved in too many wargames to play this. Also, I don't buy franchise wargames anymore. When the licence expires it switches company and the unsupported game dies...

I'm gonna jump in. Even if the game goes away in a few years, I'd do it just for the models. :-)

I have a box of SW miniatures from the WOTC d20 rpg era and pewter models from the WEG era. Still, I might be tempted to buy the Princess Lea/Luke Endor speeder bikes box if they make it. But I won't play the miniature game itself.

I think I am going to have to get this one, if only just for the figures! :)

I have a bunch of the old metal D20 models too--well, technically they're my brother's... I'll be re-basing them to go with the miniatures game.

Very nice. I have a copy of Warmaster but have never played it. There are some who want to adapt it to 28mm now that Warhammer Fantasy is no longer supported.

For 28mm WHFB there is the community driven version called 9th Age. It replaces 8E for those who want to keep playing in the original Old World. Link : https://www.the-ninth-age.com

You could play Warmaster in 28mm but then you loose an important aspect. 10mm scale transforms the regular 6x4 table into much larger battlefield making each game feel really epic. My groups uses the Warmaster community driven version called Revolution. Link : http://wm-selector.appspot.com

Just note, though, that the figures don't come pre-painted.

That's one of the big things I love about the Star Wars: X-Wing Miniature game - they're pre-painted, and quite well done at that!

Ouch yes. I bought Legion. Not only do they have to be painted, but also glued. Guess I know how I will be spending this summer! :D

Picking up X-Wing next :)

A second edition of the game is coming out later this year. If you want to play X-Wing as a wargame its best to wait for the new boxes. If not maybe you will find discounted 1.0 models after 2.0 comes out.

I absolutely second this piece of advice. 2.0 looks to be an excellent reboot of the game, and I will be converting my rather substantial collection over to it (~ 85 ships). However, if you don't have any 1.0 ships yet, hold off for the 2.0 ones - the only things usable from a 1.0 product will be the ship model and stand, and you'll need to purchase 2.0 conversion kits and the core set anyway (which is what I'll be doing).

If you do find 1.0 ships at a healthy discount you can get, but just be aware that you'll then need to buy a conversion kit for the faction that ship belongs to.

That's a plus for me; I enjoy painting models. These will be a nice change of pace from Warhammer stuff.

I played a couple games before I deployed. It was a fairly fun and quick game. Speeder bikes are my favorite unit. I have seen there are some fairly rapid new expansion units that look pretty good too. Not so stoked on the Imperial guard and Palpatine as I think they belong on the battle field about as much as Mon Mothma or Ackbar. Hopefully Deathtroopers and shore troopers will be in soon and maybe some faction benefits for bringing a cohesive force by the time I get back.

Hah! I get what you say about about the Emperor, Mon Mothma, etc.

There are rumors from Gen Con that we will see Clone wars-era troops for Legion in the near future.
