5E rules for Midgard Rune Magic?

In this dark time, new heroes must arise to claim the crowns of Midgard, and restore the jewels to her scattered thrones...

5E rules for Midgard Rune Magic?

Post by Havard » Tue Oct 22, 2019 11:44 am

I was just reading the Pathfinder Guide to the Northlands the other day and came across the excellent Rune Magic rules. Do any of the books detail rules for this form of magic under the 5E system?

There are some rules for rune magic in the Midgard Heroes Handbook for 5e. There's also a Deep Magic supplement dedicated to rune magic: https://koboldpress.com/kpstore/product ... h-edition/

I would have thought that Kobold Press would be doing 5th Edition versions of most of their Midgard books, at some point.

Have they got any Kickstarter campaigns in the works?

As we speak, the Kickstarter for Deep Magic 5E is blowing through stretch goals.

Full Disclosure: I supported Deep Magic PF and had a spell selected for it.

I suspect that's the plan. But they have years' worth of back-catalog for Pathfinder products, and are working on conversions of select PF products while also publishing completely new works. We've yet to see at what point they decide a product didn't sell well enough to warrant ever being converted to 5e.

Rune Magic is also explored in the Midgard Heroes Handbook for 5E as discussed here.

That's true. While there will be some overlap between the books, the standalone Rune Magic book has enough new content that I made the plunge and backed the Kickstarter. Who doesn't want more spells in their game? :)

I also backed the KS, but I am less keen on more spells, but rather interested in the different forms of magic. These ideas from Kobold Press really fascinate me. :)

Same here. I don't play much D&D 5e, so having entirely new forms of magic are much more likely to inspire my 13th Age games.
