Cubicle 7 to publish new edition of Warhammer FRP

The Old World. On the surface, it is a vast and fertile place, but a shadow hangs over the world, cast by the dark, corrupting hand of Chaos.

A new edition of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay will be launched by Cubicle 7 Entertainment later this year. The new edition will return players to Warhammer's grim world of perilous adventure, and takes its direction from the first and second editions of the game.

Cubicle 7 CEO Dominic McDowall said, "Like so many gamers I grew up on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It's an iconic setting and I'm thrilled to be working on this new edition of the game. Our team have a huge breadth of experience with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and I’m excited to be able to bring the Cubicle 7 approach to the Old World. We’ll be revealing more of our plans in the coming months, so subscribe to our newsletter and keep an eye on our website!”

I hope they will make something similar to WH 2nd Edition and do away with the unique dice and other gimmicks of 3rd edition.

This is good. It means GW hasn't totally ditched the Warhammer world. That Sigmar stuff where they basically trashed the planet felt like a mistake to me.

I agree, this is good news. :)

I heard a comment that this RPG is going to be set in the Old World. I am trying to get confirmation to whether that means it will not be using Age of Sigmar or not?

While I guess it is not definite, I take this to mean it will be in the Old World, and not in the Age of Sigmar.

Well, now it sounds like they will do both!

Thanks for spotting that, Sharkbelly.

(For the benefit of anyone coming along to this topic at some point in the future, here is the link to the actual story: Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game Announced!.)

Maybe there will be an Age of Sigmar subforum here...eventually.

Wow, two RPGs instead of one! I rather hope that these RPGs are compatible so that elements can be brought from one game to the other, but I guess this is more or less the same model as was used with the now discontinued WH40K RPGs.

I like that there will be RPG support for both Age of Sigmar and the classic Old World Setting. I know there is alot of resentment towards Age of Sigmar, but maybe that will go away now that they will be supporting both settings? I think that is an example that other companies could learn from. Just because you introduce something new, maybe not make it seem like you are trying to force everyone to use this new thing instead of what they are already happy with? :)

I think you're right, although it will take support of the old Miniatures Battle game and not just an RPG set in the world.

I wonder if Games Workshop could convert their classic miniatures into Print on Demand files, so that they really can support the old world setting, as much as the Age of Sigma one.
