Re: Monster Mythology Update Project
Very cool!
Could I ask is this a compilation of deities form various 2e sources, or a compilation of deities from various editions all brought into 2e?
I am just curious where they all came from.

I'd have to check but it looks like they are from the 2e supplement, Monster Mythology. Very cool book by the way.

Re: Monster Mythology Update Project
Ah, I see my unconscious assumption that everyone knows the 2nd ed books has bitten me. I forgot to specify DMGR4 in my original post (I'll edit that to be clearer). ^^; As ghendar said, they're all the deities who were listed in DMGR4 Monster Mythology, sans most of the demihuman deities who were covered by the FR godbook Demihuman Deities. I do eventually plan to work on the deities in Legends & Lore*, as well as deities who have brief mentions in various other 2nd ed and non-2nd ed sources.BotWizo wrote:Very cool!

Ramenos the Great Frog
Here's the fifth entry in my update to DMGR4 Monster Mythology, Ramenos the Great Frog. This entry was a lot of fun to write, actually, and I played quite a bit with some ideas I had. Look for a couple Spelljammer adventure hooks, too.
Also, as there really haven't been any other amphibian deities written up before, I created quite a few spells for the priesthood. They should get PCs to fear the wimpy bullywugs a bit more.

Grolantor the Steading Lord
The sixth entry in my DMGR4 Monster Mythology Update Project is the god of hill giants, mountain giants, ettins, and other similar giants, Grolantor the Steading Lord. I utilized a fair bit of information from Giantcraft, which actually has a lot of really good information; shame it was so poorly designed. As always, feel free to let me know if I missed a good bit of canon or semi-canon information.

Maglubiyet the Mighty One
Entry number seven is here, temporarily skipping Trishina (she'll be ready soon though), is Maglubiyet the Mighty One. His canon was lighter on the details than Grolantor, surprisingly, but I added some interesting stuff, I think. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts!

Trishina the Waverider
Time for entry number eight. For Trishina the Waverider, I drew heavily on what was written for Deep Sashelas, since they're so closely intertwined. I also was able to do a bit of exploration of cetacean culture in Dungeons & Dragons. Hopefully everyone will find it interesting.

Squerrik the Ratlord
Time for deity write-up number nine: Squerrik the Ratlord. Upon reading through what had been written on wererats and Squerrik himself, I was surprised no one had drawn upon some obvious folk mythology. So I decided to add it in. I also modeled some elements of the priesthood and culture after aspects of rats themselves, since it seemed fitting.

Jazirian the Eternal Serpent
Up to my tenth completed deity now. This time I wrote about Jazirian the Eternal Serpent, patron deity of the couatl. Little bit different this time, since (s)he has no priesthood. Chip in with your thoughts!

Tiamat the Chromatic Dragon
Well, for the half-dozen* of you still checking my updates, here's number eleven!
This time we have Tiamat the Chromatic Dragon, featuring my spiffy new and improved Draconic Specialty Priest! Let me know what you think of it. Anyway, this is just for Draconic Priests, as you can use the FR specialty Priest if you want a human one. When I do Bahamut, I will have specialty priests for both.
Jeff
* I'm only half-kidding. There was a HUGE drop-off after I moved into a single thread. I may go back to individual posts. My last couple have gotten much less than a dozen views in the first week, whereas my first few had over 40.

Re: Monster Mythology Update Project
I think that deities are something that have been scattered in multiple sources. I don't have DMGR4 yet, but this project is really interesting, and I'm thinking of getting it so that I can follow your project more easily.AuldDragon wrote:Ah, I see my unconscious assumption that everyone knows the 2nd ed books has bitten me. Are you going to want to take the deities invented for 3e (at some point) and retro convert them to 2e rules, to make them fit into your project?AuldDragon wrote:I do eventually plan to work on the deities in Legends & Lore*, as well as deities who have brief mentions in various other 2nd ed and non-2nd ed sources.

BTW: I look forward to finding out what you intend to do with the real-life mythology.

Only if they seem to fit a niche that hasn't been filled or something. I'm sure the real-world pantheons will keep me busy for quite some time, however.Big Mac wrote:Are you going to want to take the deities invented for 3e (at some point) and retro convert them to 2e rules, to make them fit into your project?
