[Whiteleaf] New/Revised Races: Mu/erfolk (wip)

Post by willpell » Mon Nov 09, 2015 10:07 pm

A single deity of the sea governs two distinct races of intelligent creatures who call the sea home, both capable of functioning on land but largely disinclined to bother.

An old bawdy joke notwithstanding, romantic liasons between the Mer and humans are not especially uncommon; where the lower half is otherwise piscine in outward appearance, perfectly compatible human-type genitalia are concealed within a discreet sheath on the ventral (forward) side, just below the hips. The same cannot be said of the Mur; while more humanoid in overall shape, their internal anatomy is basically that of a fish, rearranged to be capable of handling gravity and vertical alignment, but thoroughly incompatible with the human genome (and, on a more aesthetic and external level, they are also not particularly appealing to any but the very *most* twisted of humans).

Mer: +1 LA 5 ft. land / 50 ft. swim, +2 STR, +2 DEX, +4 CON, -2 WIS.

Mur: 2 HD and +1 LA, +3 Natch Armor, 10 ft. land / 60 ft. swim, +2 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Wis.

Wow. What absolute shit.

The deity of the Merfolk and Murfolk, the Duplicitous, is not associated with the Tritons, as is true in canonical D&D. He has only these two races of fish-folk under his bailiwick, and the way he caters to each of them differently is what he's all about as a god.
