So that would be 7.63 miles per hex? Rather inconvenient!
And yet close enough for the DM to hand wave it away and just use 8. Which after all is effectively what we've all been doing for years anyway, it's just that we didn't know it. ;)

Actually I think the bigger problem may be with the join between X5 and X9's maps in the Gulf of Hule. They actually don't fit together neatly at all, and the "correct" join (as determined with reference to the continental map) is not at all obvious. Since subsequent designers almost certainly worked with the hex maps, attaching X9 to X5 using the hex grid, I believe there's going to be a huge disconnect in the Gulf of Hule when I get to 1991 or 1992.

Map-wise, using the continental map to determine the join only really affects Red Steel and Savage Baronies, which are the only products to contain maps covering the whole area. I think that the Princess Ark series' maps will be more easily adaptable since they were modular to start with.

It's disappointing that the original X9 map was so far off, because it has had a knock-on effect on everything that came after it.

Indeed! I'm quite a way from the Savage Coast yet in my work. I had a couple of major problems working with Worldographer, so I've had to reevaluate the methods I'm using, and restart the whole process.

Hi Thorf
I found these two maps which you might find interesting useful in determining Mystara area determinations.
As you said Mystara resembled Jurassic Earth, some information might be drawn from these
