Fairie /Spirit presence on the Savage Coast

Post by Havard » Sun Aug 12, 2018 8:42 pm

I've been thinking about the Fairies of the Savage Coast:

Robrenn: This is of course the ideal place for Celtic style Fairies.

Eusdria: Germanic/Norse fairies would fit well here.

Bellayne: I could see English style fairies here. Would they all have cat features though?

Renardy: With the French influence you could also draw on Gaul/Celtic myths like with Robrenn. As with Bellayne, perhaps dog features on the fairies?

Savage Baronies: I don't know enough about Spanish or South American fairy tales. The first thing that comes to mind is

Herath: Not sure about this realm. Wood Imps might be found here, given their affinity for spiders? :)

Tortle lands: Not sure. Turtle like Pooka?

Wallara: I don't know if there is an official take on the relationship between fairies and Spirits. I like the idea of Fey being similar to Spirits, but more mischievious in nature, while some Spirits are more harmonious and others warped and evil.

Oltec Ruins: I am wondering if the Fey from the Azca HWR could still be hanging out in some of these ruined lands.

City States: These lands were settled by people of Traldar origins. Did they bring with them slavic style fairies? Perhaps Hags, Crones etc?

What are your ideas for Spirits and Fairies on the Savage Coast?

I put a Faery Kingdom near Torreon (see the minigaz). Others could be devised, of course.

Nice GP!

Did you develop this kingdom further? Would all kinds of Faeries be welcome there?

Here is the relevant excerpt:
The Kingdom of Fey
While the human inhabitants of Torreón, and even most of the elves, may be unaware of this, a large, if dwindling, Faerie kingdom lays deep in La Pineda, a forest of evergreen trees north-west of Ciudad Morales.
The Kingdom of Fey has been there for much longer than anyone else, including the Oltecs and the elves of Torreón. However, while once Fey covered a large forest up to the Rio Guadiana, including parts of today's Torreón and Cristobal, goblinoid invasions and human encroaching have reduced its territory to the deeper woods of La Pineda.

Sidhe King Rhuannach mab Gwyr (Sidhe m F13/W15, TN) rules over an unknown number of Faeries, currently divided into two factions: the original dwellers of the Kingdom of Fey, who shy from direct action against (or in favour) of the neighbouring humans and elves, and the exiles of the Faerie Kingdom of Minuar in the Dark Wood. This second group advocates intervention in the external world, lest the events should take Fey unaware as it happened with Minuar.
There isn't much more, except that Rhuannach has an agent, Owain y Rhyd, among the elves of Torreon. Minuar is part of the Hule developments, on the other hand, so I just built over it.

It could make sense they have cat and dog features in Bellayne and Renardie. It would fit with the idea fairies have no fixed forms but dependent on the place and the races with whom they interact.
I think wallaras should have good relations with faeries and the Arm of the Immortal should be inhabited by the faerie (race) and the mythu'inn folks are also related to faeries.
Wood imps indeed would fit with Herath but also spider-like pookas and hengeyokai
