[The World of Naborad] A 5e setting with a B/X twist.
The World of Naborad
A 5e setting with a B/X twist.
••••• Contains the ideas of Shesheyan (and follow contributors) for the creation of a 5E setting in which races and classes are fused together similar to the B/X (BECMI) era. I propose that the common term «race-as-class» be replaced by «natural-born class». By that I imply that all (player available) races have a natural-born tendency towards one class. I posit that the vast majority (80%) of adventurers roaming the lands on missions and quests would be of that one class. That doesn't preclude races having other classes available to them. It just means its very rare (20%) and usually reserved for NPCs. •••••
Proposed Natural-born classes Lawful or Good natured :
• Arcane Warriors Elves
• Barbarians Goliaths
• Bards Gnomes
• Clerics Aasimars
• Fighters Dwarves
• Paladins Dragonborn
• Rangers Humans
• Monks Githzerai
• Rogue Halfling
• Sorcerers Half-Djinni (human/djinni)
Proposed Natural-born classes Neutral natured :
• Druids Firbolgs
Proposed Natural-born classes Chaotic or Evil natured :
• Arcane Warriors Drow
• Barbarians .....
• Bards .....
• Clerics .....
• Fighters .....
• Rangers .....
• Monks .....
• Paladins .....
• Rogue Kenku
• Sorcerers Aranea (humanoid form)

Oh well, this idea failed to grab the attention of my players. It was to be expected - to narrow - to restrictive. But I pitched it anyway so I don't keep thinking about it. Now I can put it behind me and move on to another idea. When you've played D&D as long as I have it becomes more and more difficult to find a fresh campaign idea. I still have my 5e Blackmoor campaign that I could restart but its not my world. I feel like I should be homebrewing a fantasy sandbox world at this juncture...

From a certain perspective, I almost envy you -- while I've been playing (well, DM-ing, mostly) for almost 30 years, I've still got so many campaigns I'd want to play (e.g., I've never managed to play a Dark Sun or Birthright campaign or a full-blown Planescape or Ravenloft campaign, although I did play individual adventures in both settings).shesheyan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 12:18 pmOh well, this idea failed to grab the attention of my players.
