Why do you want to know?

Did they include Essentials compatibility in books published later in the 4e Era?

Are these 4e books easier to use (with Essentials) than early 4e books?

Yes and no. Compatibility between Vanilla 4e and Essentials never was an issue. Both were 100% compatible without any special rules. The thing with Essentials is that it has more simpler classes (easier to play) compared with Vanilla classes. But, in general you could use some Essentials stuff in a Vanilla 4e character without problem, and the other way around (4e stuff in an Essentials character). Despite that compatibility, Essentials books focused only on the Essentials classes. Like, feats that only worked for the cavalier, but not for the standard paladin.

Post-Essentials materials included some of these new simpler classes, as well as stuff (such as powers or features) intended for Vanilla classes. So, those books are useful for people that didn't bought Essentials books as well as for those who did it.

As I'm scaling down, I'd rather keep the books that support Essentials. Better flavor too.

That's a fair point. When I think about the books with the most story elements, my mental list leans toward those post-Essentials releases.

Yeah, Essentials and Post-Essentials were the most flavorful products in 4e, besides the specifical books about x topic (ie the MoP or the Draconomicons).
