Monte Cook's Ptolus coming to 5e and Cypher System

Post by Tim Baker » Thu Jan 16, 2020 4:24 am

I just came across this announcement that Monte Cook's setting, Ptolus, is coming to 5e and the Cypher System (the system Monte Cook Games' Numenera is based on). https://www.montecookgames.com/announci ... er-system/

This could be my next D&D campaign. I've been waiting to do a city centered campaign. It's just too much work to do by myself. I usually don't like playing in other people's campaigns but after reading Numenera and the Numenera Worldbook, I believe I could probably wrap my head around this product. I like Monte Cook's writing style.

Interesting.

Can we expect any new races and classes in this book based on what was in the 3E version?

  • Cherubim elves (they can fly)
  • Harrow elves (deformed elves with spell-like abilities)
  • Litorians (lion-folk)
  • Lizardfolk
  • Aasimars
  • Dark elves
  • Minotaurs
  • Orcs
  • Tieflings
  • Goblins
  • Ratmen
It has the standard core classes:
  • Barbarian
  • Bard
  • Cleric
  • Druid
  • Fighter
  • Monk
  • Paladin
  • Ranger
  • Rogue
  • Sorcerer
  • Wizard
It also has a few prestige classes:
  • Forsaken shigmaas - They must die and be resurrected repeatedly, and are hideous. They dwell among the undead.
  • Inverted Pyramid initiate - These are members of a semi-secret guild of arcanists.
  • Knight of the Chord - This order of knighthood uses the magic of music to aid their fighting skills.
  • Knight of the Pale - These knights are dedicated to ridding the world of evil by specializing in revering and honoring the saints of the past.
