Laeral Silverhand's Explorer's Kit (Next FR 5E Book title Leaked?)

Post by Havard »

https://www.amazon.com/Forgotten-Silver ... 786966998/

The link above is to an accessory set with dice and an FR map, but a similar product was released along with the Avernus book.

Do we have the title of the next FR Adventure/sourcebook?

I haven't seen anything mentioned. I haven't even heard a date for a date for the next release announcement.

That's kind of what people thought when the kit was first leaked, but considering we now know that Explorer's Guide to Wildemount releases on the same day it seems unlikely that it's got a paired hardcover.

I'm kind of thinking these dice and maps are linked to Wildemount. due to the same day release, they just didn't name them the same. I would now speculate that Laeral Silverhand is in the Wildemount material.

That would be groundbreaking. It would finally link these new settings to the old canonically and officially.

Assuming the cover shown on the Amazon page isn't a mockup, the dice set has the "Forgotten Realms" title on the cover, so to me it seems unlikely.

Is the character Laeral Silverhand mentioned in previous material from 5E or older editions?

She's an established Forgotten Realms character, the Lord (or one of the Lords at least) of the city of Waterdeep.

In 5e, she's mentioned in the Rise of Tiamat adventure, and she's a prominent NPC (and potential patron of the adventuring party) in the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist adventure.

She also appears in quite a few of the Forgotten Realms novels apparently, but I've not read those so I don't know the details.
Check out Gurbintroll Games for my free RPGs (including Dark Dungeons and FASERIP)!

Thanks for confirming this. I suspect they want to promote her on a similar level to Elminster, Volo, Drizzt and Mordenkainen who also have books with their names in the titles.

I'd love to see an adventure set in or around the Mere of Dead Men.

Not sure which edition you’re playing these days, but there’s an adventure series set there starting with Dungeon Issue 69. I can’t remember details but I do remember loving it.

Do we have the title of the next FR Adventure/sourcebook?
On a recent episode of Dragon Talk, Greg Tito had the following to say about this set:
Greg Tito wrote: It was designed as a way to get an evergreen dice set out there, so it doesn't have to be tied to any specific type of thing.
If you want to listen for yourself, it's at 10:50, and is in response to a question about what product the set is tied to. So I don't think it offers any clues about a future release.

Thanks for looking into this. :) I wonder if it was connected to a book that was later abandoned?
